Good Bye Zadar

Hello everybody, Rohan Geographic is back!  Last night we had a family night for my special treat.  I had a blast.  First, I played my Infinity Blade game and beat the Master.  I completed this task with my newly purchased special power Ice Ring.  I wish I had taken a screen shot of my victory for you.  But, I was way too excited!  Next we all watched a movie and snuggled.  We watched the new Willy Wonky and the Chocolate Factory.  I love that movie!  The Umpa Lumpas were definitely the best part.  Whenever a kid got in trouble, the Umpa Lumpas sang a teasing song.

This morning we sadly broke the record of being able to sleep in.  We all had to wake up at 9:00 in the morning to check out of our apartment on time.   Another sad thing about the morning was that it was raining.  Ivan, our skipper, had told us about a diving board in Zadar, that was about the size of my last cliff jumping experience. With the rainy weather, it was less desirable to jump in the water.  Nonetheless, we decided to take on the diving board, rain or shine.

On our way to the diving board, we were interrupted by a short detour.  A guy on the street was setting up for a performance.  He had a kick drum with a cymbal strapped to his back.  He sang, played the guitar and played the harmonic while using his feet to play the drum and cymbals.  He sounded amazing!  It must take a lot of hand, eye, foot, and mouth coordination to do that!  We watched this spectacular performance from a ledge on a nearby ancient church.

When we had finally arrived at the high dive, to our great surprise the weather was starting to clear up.  As you know, life is not all good, and the diving board was closed.  My super dad asked a life guard who happened to be there If I could take one jump.  There was a three meter low dive (9 feet,) a five meter dive (15 feet,) and a 10 meter high dive (30 feet.)  The ladder leading to the low dive was locked.  But, the ladder continuing from the low dive and leading up to other jumps was not locked. The lifeguard said that if we could climb past the locked ladder we could jump from the high dive. I got dad to lift me up to the first diving board.  I continued the long climb to the 10 meter dive and off I went!  Note to Ivan: I liked this jump but the Cliff was definitely higher!

When we were done exploring the rest of the town, we jumped on our bus to Zagreb.  This evening, we will be taking a 33 hour.... repeat 33 hour... train ride from Zagreb to Istanbul.  I cannot wait!

Thank you for reading Rohan Geographic!

  1. Dear Rohan,
That high dive looked unbelievably scary! Wow! I didn't see your Dad waiting to follow you off the board?

That street musician must have been awesome. Let's suggest to Chopper that he learn a couple more instruments to impress us all even more than he did last Xmas.
    Love, Grandma Doris
