The Languid Day

When we woke up this morning, we heard that in the town it was going to be one hundred degrees today (35 degrees Celsius!)   We threw on our bathing suits, eager to jump in the pool once it started to get hot.  The owners were thinking about taking us to a beautiful lake in the afternoon. Villach is famous for its gorgeous lakes.  However, when it got hot, we postponed the lake tour and played in the pool instead.  In reality, Dad and I played but Mom did not want to get her hair wet.  Ya think she is too concerned about her hair?

In the hot afternoon, none of us wanted to go to the lake.  Well I should clarify, the three of us did not want to go but the owners did.  Somehow, they managed to persuade us to go out in the hundred degree weather to tour a lake.  When we got there, to our great disappointment, the beach had no good swimming spots.  The lake was filled with people playing and boats cruising around. Everyone was in this gross, oily water from all the boats.  There was one good beach, but my dad did not like it.  According to him, it was a zoo with too many people.  My dad now realizes, out of the heat, that he should have stayed at the one beach to swim and play.

When we got home from the lake, we got a text from Maren.  The last day she boated in Slovenia with my mom, she hit her head on a rock and had a migraine for the rest of the day.  The text today told us that her head injury from boating, that we had thought was not so bad, was actually really serious.  She had bruised her skull and had blood in her brain. We are trying to work out a way to see her at the hospital in Zell am See, Austria.  We hope you feel better Maren!
